AAA's Beginnings
AAA was founded February 28, 2001 by a small group of University of Florida students. The founding members met at the second annual Compassion for Animals Action Symposium, hosted by Vegetarian Events.
AAA formed with a modest goal: to build an organization that would serve as a voice for nonhuman animals long after its founders had graduated. Thanks to the support of many great student and community activists, AAA has become more than the original members could have imagined, and a number of former AAA members continue to work for the animals on the national level. See the awards below to view some of AAA's distinctions.
